What's the point of a digital crypto-currency if you can't use it to shake down a presidential candidate?
Politico reports that Michael Mancil Brown, a 34-year-old Tennessee man, stands accused of attempting to extort money out of Mitt Romney and PricewaterhouseCoopers in the run-up to the election.
Allegedly, last year he claimed in a letter to the accounting firm (and also on Pastebin) that he'd hacked his way to Mr. Romney's tax returns, and he wanted $1 million in Bitcoins in exchange for keeping them secret. He's been indicted on six counts of wire fraud and another six of extortion.
The DOJ says he didn't even have the documents in the first place. Good doxx, pal.
